Does Verizon offer the option of 7pm nights (unlimited nights and
weekends) even for an extra flat fee? I did not see this on their website.

I was just cleaning out my desk this week when I found an old contract that
had it. It was $10.00 extra on my old analog plan. It looks like those plans
started at $15.00/month for 30 minutes. Nowadays, I can use up 30 minutes in
about half an hour. ;-)

actually you could use up 30 minutes in about 29:01...

Actually the way billing works you could use up 30 minutes of airtime
in about a minute or two by making 30 (extremely short) calls and hang
up as soon as the connection is established.

It'd have to be calls to 30 different numbers. Calls to the same number
within a minute generate an automatic one-minute "dropped call" credit on
VZW's billing system.

Funny... but one of my on-line statements shows that I have been billed
3 times in the same minute - for calls to voice-mail.

This seems a bit dodgy...
