Motherboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme3
CPU: AMD FX-6300
Memory: Corsair 2x4GB Low Profile @1866Mhz

My motherboard don't have an onboard video and when I go to basic information of the system (windows+pause break) only 7,80GB of my 8,00GB RAM is usable. I don't know why, if some one can help me or explain why, thanks. Ah, and I got another PC with the same RAM and CPU but another MB and I don't have this problem.

USAFRet and Seluxious: Yeah, but with a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P Motherboard, same RAM, same CPU, same Windows it shows 8,00GB normal.

spentshells: Hmm, maybe thats the explanation.

FYI this is not the same thing at all when comparing RAM to hard drives.

Hard drives show less memory for two reasons:
1) listed capacity is Base10, reported is Base2, and
2) Formatting uses space

System memory however is fully utilized, but some of it is allocated to hardware such as the BIOS or if you use an iGPU/APU some is also assigned as video memory. There's a full "memory map" that accounts for every single bit. The amount "usable" by Windows itself is what is left over.

It also depends on WHAT PROGRAM is reporting as some just note that you have 8GB installed not how much is usable.

My BIOS don't have memory remapping feature, onboard video or something like that. Maybe its used for hdaudio, usb, network or something like that like spentshells wrote. And I already tried to use the msconfig but when I do that it shows 6,81GB usable memory.

EDIT: I fixed my problem. My Motherboard BIOS "Storage Configuration" was selected RAID Mode so I changed to AHCI Mode and reinstalled the Windows.
