8.1 memory leak

Hi

I wonder what can cause memory leak? because earlier this morning i was just chatting with a friend and suddenly i felt my pc got really slow at responding and then i looked at my memory and it was saying 95% usage of 12GB, and it has happened to me ~3-4 times now since i started using 8.1 and never in 7, what is causing this? i have to press the reset button on my front panel to reboot for it to go away.

Does your anti virus is up to date and running ?? Do a through full system scan.

my antivirus is scheduled to update and scan daily

In task manager you should be able to see the process which is using all the memory. Identify this first.

will look again next time it happens, just didn't see anything unusual in there, but will look closer

Virus, probably a "trojan" or a "rabbit" or more likely, spyware/adware of some type.

don't think so, never had a virus or anything alike for 5+ years in previous windows, so it would be unlikely i would have gotten anything like that after using 8.1 less than 10days, and i as i pointed out above, win defender is scheduled to update and scan daily

but will see when it happens again, will monitor the task manager carefully in case i missed something last time
