8+4 pin CPU power with two 4+4 pin connectors?

My psu came with two 4+4 pin Cpu connectors and my motherboard has an 8+4 can I use the 4+4 and have one 4 pin section not connected?

Yes. That is why the CPU plugs are 4+4.
