[SOLVED] 8-core gaming?

Solution
8 cores has a benefit when it comes to being able to multitask like having multiple things in the background and being able to game. But you'd only benefit from 8 cores if the game actually needs to use 8 cores or is optimized for that type of dealio.
So a cpu intensive game would benefit but for most games there wouldn't be a benefit. I still think 8 cores is good though since it gives you a ton of horsepower and lets you do very large workloads much faster than a weaker 6 or 4 core. A think where having 8 cores also comes in handy is if you're gonna record videos you have such a beefy cpu so you can have it record on that without a significant hit to gaming performance. Stuff like that is some of the things where more cores/8 cores...
Are we talking 8 cores, or 8 threads?

There are DEFINITELY limitations at 4 threads, especially for online gameplay. Less so at 6 threads. Once you exceed 8 threads, the differences shift away from core count and back to frequency & IPC in most games.
