Currently i have an AMD 8350 and was looking to upgrade to a higher end CPU from intel but after seeing the price of their 8-core CPU, the Intel Core i7 6900k but after seeing the price, started thinking about getting the Core i7 6850k which is hundreds cheaper. How would the performance of the 6850k compare to the AMD 8350?

On another note, does anyone know when the AMD Zen cores will come to market? I heard they were supposed to the final quarter of this year but i haven't heard anything on that since? Cheer's everyone!

Solution
i7 6850 : better oc for sure
uses 14nm chips design which is better and shows its a very new and modern cpu
huge more L3 cache compared to the amd 8350 !
it offers 6cores (12 logical) But amd One Offers 8 Cores(8 LOgical)
And Also Got More Threads 12 And amd got 8 Threads
Its From 2016
But Amd One Was From 2012!
U Should Afford the i7 6850k
The FX 8350 is a very weak processor. All this talk about price and cores and cores. The Intel I5 6600K beats out the FX 8320 or the FX 8350. SO an I7 6700K would be a huge upgrade.

Zen will have a 8 Core - 16 Thread for $300! I'd wait to see..

It would destroy the 8350 in every way. The 8350 gets beaten by cpu's like the i3 6100 in most work loads, there are some multithreded work loads where the 8350 will pull ahead but overall even a modern i3 can come close or out perform an 8350. Core for core the latest intel cpu's dominate all the amd fx processors. Zen may get announced in late 2016, but I have heard they wont be available for consumers until at the earliest late first quarter of next year.

Solution
Cores, threads and clock speeds aren't comparable when it comes to AMD and Intel CPUs.

There's no AMD CPU on the market that can compete with an i7. Even an i5 outperforms an FX-8350 in the majority of tasks.

As for Zen, who knows? Unless it comes from AMD directly, whatever you hear, see or read is based on hearsay and guesswork.

Okay, i might go with the 6850K considering the Zen cores might not be available till next year. I was thinking of going AMD but if they're not going to be ready around Christmas time then I'll stick with Intel. Cheer's for the help guys!

He wasnt talking to you, you are the OP (original poster). Its up to you to select the best answer.

Oh i thought he meant operator haha

@OP, depending on what you're doing an i7-6700/6700K would most likely be more than enough without having to pay for the 6850K + expensive motherboard.
