So everybody here says hey get 8gb ram as it's the so called sweet spot but I was on a very tight budget so I bought the following

i5 6500
H110 mobo
Corsair Vengeance 4gb 2400 mhz
Corsair 450w

But I can play all the games and the ram doesn't even go above 3gb so why would somehow say to buy 8 GB in the first place also I have seen no program takes up my memory more then 70% and even all the aaa titles games doesn't utilize that much memory cuz they utilize gpu memory

Also do know I ain't using any video editing or photo like adobe stuff but hey I even had come here to get the advise for gaming required ram also when I buy games on steam they have this section requirements and even in that they suggest at least 6gb or 8gb ram but why people dupe someone into increasing their ram when the system wouldn't even use it

Is it hoax?

OS windows 10 pro 64 bit

Good choice on the CPU RAM trade off, bad choice on the PSU IMO.

The article that was posted above, in every single non gaming scenario 8GB wins by a lot, and these weren't complex scenarios. This to me just tells us how good win10 is at dumping stuff to page file that is not needed for the task at hand.

But why that's my point as yeah if your heavy programs like adobe users then yeah but with today's skylake processor everything seems to run so smooth like butter and with so awesomely optimized windows 10 64 bit that your system doesn't go above 70% with even the most heavy games you name it

Believe me I had come here to ask some folks here that hey I will just only be using for heavy intense gaming and just browsing and everybody were like if you buy 4gb you would be sorry

What the heck no one's sorry as my system is running good with all the heavy intense game I threw at it

It's just a common misconception mixed with opinions from a ton of people. http://www.pcgamer.com/new-testing-shows-that-4gb-of-ram-is-still-plenty-for-gaming/

But then you can still find videos on youtube of people getting higher framerates with more ram, in which case there could be more factors involved.

And a year from now, some new game will choke on that.

For current DDR4, the price difference between 4GB and 8GB is maybe $10-$15.
If you are building a whole new PC, that is a trivial difference.

I'm sat here doing not a lot using 5.6.
The division uses around 2GB by itself, BF4 used a lot. Win 10 is very good at memory management and will use what is available whilst keeping some spare so that it doesn't have to ditch things immediately, otherwise it pulls from disk. A clean win10 install I had to do was using 1.1GB idle, but the accumulated apps etc since the last reinstall 8 years ago take me up to 3ish idle, and 4-5 with various small bits and bobs open.

You'll be trashing your page file before long. But if the choice was i3 + 8GB or i5 and 4GB, the i5 is the better option, adding more is simpler and cheaper than changing CPU.

Arkham is not a good test, it has so many other issues not sure about F1. I can think of many other far more popular games that they could have tested, that haven't spent time withdrawn from sale.

Exactly I was so on tight in budget that I could either go for

i3 6100
H170 mobo
8gb ddr4 ram
Corsair 550 w

But I figured that I would go for i5 6500 so I had cut down something
i5 6500
H110 mobo
4gb ddr4 ram
Corsair 450w

And I guess it was all worth it
