[SOLVED] 8-pin ATX power socket but no cable

I have an Asus Maximus Hero motherboard and a Seasonic Prime 850w PSU. The PSU doesn't have an 8-pin socket for motherboard power. There are sockets for PCI-e/CPU and for peripherals. Can I use a PCI-e/CPU cable (6+2) to supply the extra power, or not bother?

That unit should have come with two 4+4 CPU cables. Do not use the PCIe cables.
The CPU cable does however plug into the CPU/PCIe slot on the PSU.

There are suppose to be two 4+4 CPU power cables that come your PSU. Do not try to use the 6+2 pin PCIE cables for CPU.

Pci-E and EPS are essentially the same thing. 12v power and grounds. Just in different combinations. So they can come from any of the 7 pcie/cpu sockets on that side of the psu, those connections are proprietary, the only difference being the twists and turns to align the universal EPS 4+4 and the Pci-E 6+2 with power/ground in the right orientation.

So both Pci-E and EPS can both use the same socket source, just different on the component end.
