Played a game earlier, computer randomly shut off. Checked all connections and were secure, was about to put it down to psu failing (PC is 2 years old in June), but took the six pin And Eight pin connectors out of graphics card (AMD 200 series, 4gb gfx card), tried to power on pc and loaded fine (before with only pc powered no peripherals, and gfx card still connected, fans would spin 1-2 rotations and stop, no power went to LEDs inside case).
After taking the gfx card 8pin and 6pin out, powered up and everything loaded fine, started to think gfx card was shot. Lights work at pin connectors, plugged a single six pin in and computer launched fine with the gfx card connected with 6pin. Turned pc off and then put only Eight pin in, no joy, didn't load. Cables are fine, connections to psu for cables are fine (both are 6+2 connectors, tried each in 6 pin and works on both cables).
There's nothing inside the female 8pin connector on gfx card, no bent pins, assuming there's an issue inside on circuit of gfx card and connections came loose? Not sure where to go from here, doubt gfx card can run fine solely on the six pin, any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
