I'm getting an i7-4770K and plan to OC it. I'll be also getting an ATX mobo.
Letting aside other factors such as cooling and mobo quality, what's the max OC capacity an 8-pin CPU power connector? And a 16-pin?
Really odd I can't seem to find this anywhere.

that's a rare a rocking horse doings, config. if you;ve got money to spare and are looking into substantially below ambient cooling then it might just be useful. for normal OC, the power phases are important but not the number of pins. Oh and it is classed as 2x8pin and not 16pin

Yes, that's what I meant. Nearly all high-end mobos have that nowadays...
But my question is: In theory, approximately, where would a 4770K get capped by the 1x 8-pin connector? Or if it just can't, can you name modern CPU's that need 2x 8-pins for high OC's?

Alright then, thank you very much.

Asked and researched this so many times before and all answers I found were "YOU DONT NEED IT, YOU SILLY PORTUGUESE SARDINE", "you cannot reach a high enough OC level that you'll need the extra 8 pins", etc. when I just wanted to know that simple answer. :I
