$800 Computer build for gaming

Hello,

Is anyone able to help me a new system build.

I have grown accustom to the SSD in my MBP and if possible would love to use one for the OS if pricing allows


Approximate Purchase Date: 2 – 4 weeks

Budget Range: 700-800 / After Shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: (e.g.: gaming, Photoshop, Office, surfing the internet, watching movies)

Your Monitor Resolution: looking at getting 24” Monitor, not included in price, any recommendations would be good.

Additional Comments: Use to game on PC and have build 2 PCs in the past, but this was more than 8 years ago, will need keyboard and mouse as well.

^True. Will probably need to downgrade HDD to 500gb. I won't suggest a modular anymore with his budget though.

Hello I just picked up from Newegg last week an Antec BP550 80 plus modular for 49.99 not sure if still the same price but runs great for me with some head room on PhenomII x4 965 BE with GTX 550TI

yea idk what its like for you guys but in the US the corsair builder series (cxXXX i believe) 430, 500 and 600 are all within 10 dollars or so of each other or the same price

cx430 = 44.99 => 24.99

cx500 = 59.99 => 49.99

cx600 = 69.99 => 37.99

i put both prices because the second one is with rebates in promos on newegg which probably isnt applicable for you guys, but it should give you a feel for the differences between them. Hopefully he has the few extra bucks to snag the cx500 atleast, gives him a few options ( probably can crossfire or overclock nicely but i wouldnt do both), without compromising anything else in the build (500 gigs is on the small side these days with HD videos and textures).

Are you saying 500 gigs is to small for gaming? I have all my media on usb drives and i would normally only have 2 or so games installed at a time. Or am i still gimping myself with 500 gigs?

+1 get the 500w PSU.
You can't CF/SLI with 500w. 750 is usually the sweet spot for that.

500gb is fine. You'll already have enough money to buy another HDD before you can even max that out. There are only a handful of games that reach those sizes, with the biggest being 35gb (Max Payne 3).
