800 dollar custom build, Is everything I chose compatible?

Hello everyone, I was following a guide on this site about current parts that work well on a build. I have followed the advice and would like to build an 800 dollar computer based on these parts. This will be my first build and basically I am asking if I chose the correct parts and they will all work together fine, and if not, what do I need to change?

I would like to know if I forgot anything, and If I ordered all these parts would I be able to build a decent computer for an $800 dollar budget.

Yes it all looks compatible but you could get better bang for your buck with a nice quad/triple core AMD build imo. If you want I could pick out these parts for you, so let me know what you think...

There's definitely a lot of tweaking that can be done in that budget range. I'll edit this post once I've come up with my suggestions.

Edit: OK here's what I came up with. It's subtotal is 768 + $45 shipping, so a bit overbudget, it'd be a bit higher if you have to pay tax.

For ~$800 you get a Phenom II 940, CM 690, 4870, 4GB DDR2 800, PCP&C 500w, WD6401AALS, 790GX Gigabyte board, and Hanns-G 19"

Edit Again: I forgot to put in a DVD Burner and Heatsink into the build selection. You can add the DVD for ~$30, and the heatsink you can do without until you get some extra funds.

Get an antec 300 and put more into your processor and motherboard. Also a 4850 will handle that resolution just find which would give you the budget to be able to switch up to an AMD triple core and a good motherboard.

Those two come up to $281

Your selections come out to $216 but switching down to an antec 300 saves you an extra $47.50, if you swap out your PSU for an EA650 that still leaves you enough to crossfire 2 4870s but saves you yet another $43 bringing the AMD build to $25.50 cheaper.

Bad news snake, if he intends to game that build is a significant step down, slower ram, and a lesser graphics card, a quad core cannot make up the difference between a 4850 and a 4870 especially since games arent made for quads yet. The AM3 boards also offer better upgrades.

Bad news????where do you live under a rock, he isnt going to play in a movie theater resolution he is gaming in 19 inch monitor, thats more than enough, 1 yrs passes he decide for new monitor he just need a new card..upgradability is what amd stands for these days, unless you give him the money for sumthing better, thats his budget,,or what do you suggest Mr. I Know a lot, how ever i dont make a list of suggestions...

Snake... You're arguing DDR2 800 versus DDR3 1600, AM2 versus AM3, and 512 mb Gddr3 versus 1gb Gddr5.

yes, how ever , DDR3 doesn't show its performance unless paired wit the i7 and triple channel, and 4850 is more than enough for that resolution, hence u know that, i just included a much nicer cpu wit a little better mobo, bcause its not that hard to replace a video card, but its really hard to repalce a cpu and mobo..thats my humble opinion

if its really hard to replace a mb and cpu why are you recommending a mb/ram technology that is being phased out ? Your build is much more likely to have no upgrade path .

Umm..... so you are saying I wont see a difference in performance if i use DDR3 on an AMD system as opposed to an i7 that uses triple channel DDR3?

i suppose it will be some,,with number that is, but to appreciate, and say look that window open faster, no..DDR3 its just a bigger bandwich to allow a higher timing, so when u over clock u don't need to sacrifice your mgz
