Hi guys,

Well I know pretty much nothing about gaming builds and I am thinking about building one soon. I had a look at alienware but apparently their pcs are rubbish for the price. I prefer an intel processor again I'm not sure about the difference between a dual core and a quad core because I am new to this stuff. I was just wondering about whether you guys could suggest to me a couple of builds that you believe are worth it. My budget is $960 (including pc, keyboard, mouse, os and monitor)

This would fit my budget but hasn't been getting great reviews: http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-alpha/pd?oc=dkcwa03&model_id=alienware-alpha

It will certainly last for a few years, but for highest possible details there is no rig out there that can last 7-8 years. Games develop, graphics keep getting better, console conversions keep getting worse 😉

I will post a gaming build for you shortly.

No budget is going to produce a PC thatll last 7-8 years and be able to play games for the duration. Think about a top of the line PC from 7-8 years ago, is it still anywhere near top of the line? Not a chance. Is it still able to play modern games well? Maybe at very low resolutions.

Thank you, but I think I forgot about the OS, which I think will also have to be included in the $960 (PC + Mouse + Keyboard+ OS)

Thanks for the quick response. Is this pc significantly better than the alienware alpha and will it take me for about 4 years?

I live in Australia so how much will I have to pay for shipping?

Hi Rockie,
Do you have any other suggestions for the video card, dvd drive and power supply that I can get from here:

The ones that you sent me were really good but they are all out of stock in Australia
