Hi, I have been noticing my wifi getting slower and having more problems recently, and I read up on some reviews on the site where I bought my Desktop PC and many people were saying it had a weak wifi adapter. Would a USB Adapter work? And if so, what kind should I get? I'm not very tech savvy, so I'm not really sure what to do. Usually I only get around 2 or 3 bars with my wifi at any given point, while the other laptops in my house that my family uses always get a strong 4-5 bars consistently. Any help would be very very appreciated.

If you're saying that it appears to be getting slower and nothing else has changed then it does sound as though the adapter is having issues. I have a Sony Vaio laptop and I noticed that it ran very slowly. I assumed it was just because it was old but when I bought this adapter as a test its performance was simply transformed and it feels like it's new now. It was cheap, too so it's not a disaster if it doesn't work out.

PC location and distance from router also affects wireless speed. Have you changed anything recently? Another option to consider would be a Powerline adapter, which uses your existing electrical circuits to provide a wired connection. I use them in my house and they provide a solid and, equally...
Hi,
Are you only having trouble on your desktop?

What kind of adapter do you have right now?
If it´s a USB, try moving it closer to the router or similar, you can also use a extension cord for USB for 1-2 meters to get the Adapter to clear sight.

What router are you currently using? Can also be the router being the trouble, since you have laptops in the house all the wireless data traffic is shared on the wireless net, this is also a factor to account for, saying you have 52mbit/s on a wireless with 4 computers hooked up to them or similar they will all share the same bandwidth.

Solution
My router is a Motorola NVG510. Also, my desktop is all the way across the house from the router, as it is in the kitchen and my PC is in my bedroom. The adapter is an 802.11bgn 1T1R. I've been thinking about getting a USB Adapter but I just didn't know where to start. A lot of the time when I'm trying to play a game or even just watch videos on Youtube it's extremely slow at loading the video or keeping connection to the game. There's also been times when my wifi signal has the "Limited" error on it while all the other laptops are completely fine in the house. We also have a Roku video streaming device in the house and most of the time when my Desktop internet is messing up, it stays fine as well. I've tried resetting the router on multiple occasions but sometimes it kinda works and sometimes it doesn't. Like you said, shure, it's probably a problem with the adapter, I just don't know where to start as I've never messed with anything like this before.

Oh, and also. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 and it has built in wifi.

Never mind, you guys. I recently bought a USB Adapter at Wal-Mart for $35 and for the first time ever since I've had my PC my wifi connection is at a solid 5 bars consistently!
