[Moderator edit: Moving post from Graphics Cards to Opinions and Experiences. No specific hardware problems.]

Ha ha, seems last summer I was concerned for nothing, still gaming happily on my old faithful RX VEGA 64 from ASUS...

Runs smooth and I can't complain anymore, actually a good thing since I'm waiting for an actual upgrade and if this GPU never fails all the better since then it can go and be installed into my other gaming pc.

Edit: just for reverence the gpu's temps did go back into the normal range during our winter season, so in actual fact there wasn't anything wrong with my hardware as I thought it.

You must have been a warm ambient temperature if it dropped in winter.

My RX 7900 XT hasn't had to deal with a hot summer yet... this year looks like it will. 36c on Saturday... summer not messing around this year. If my AIO can't keep everything cool, I give up.

You still on that same card Colif? has it been summer there yet?

Anyway our summer is nearly over now here and boy was it a hot one many days 40c ambient outside, and you might well know that I'm sticking with the stock cooling for my pc and no room air conditioner to help things cool down, It's been some adjustment but all is great while gaming in the heat, thinking this way is better.

I Guese it's only with the heavy hitter rated Watts gpu's and cpu's that you have to be cautious when moving from one location to another where the average ambient differs so much from where it was before as in my case.

Something that also caught my attention is the storage device temps. but since I had no issues whole summer season say it's also nothing to worry about.

Another thing, I forgot I wanted to post a reply with a quote so that you could see it (still works that way doesn't it?)
Anyway point being that I don't see a way to insert quote on an edit post, Am I missing something, was that ever possible?

Thats why the quote is below my post and not in my post...

Yes, my summer only has one month left, I have to guess you in Southern Hemisphere so its the same one. It still hasn't been as hot here as you got. I am happy with that. Think max we got might have been that 36c day I mentioned. GPU got a little warm in that time but its been fine. Some parts of Australia are 40c all summer, every day. I guess you get used to it and think the temps you get are normal.

Quotes work, have you ever done one before on this software? Do you see the insert quotes button under a post?
for example
8yCypBk.jpeg

It should have the quote in there.

If you hit Reply it will create a new post with the quote in it... but you can do steps below to get it into another post

The forum can be dumb about it if you decide to edit a post after you have posted it, and try to put a quote in as it will instead put the quote in a post below. What I do there is:
  1. click on the 3 dots/.hamburger menu on the far right of the menu line in a text box (above is a text box)
  2. choose toggle BBCode
  3. Cut the code for the quote out of the box
  4. Paste it into my current post I am editing

Note if you toggle BBCode off to see quote codes to copy them, you need to toggle it back on again as forums remember what you set. it makes the text box look different.

I think its a "feature" of the forum software

So, as you might know this GPU ASUS Vega 64, did not make it more than three summers in the heat gaming. In actual fact it served me 6 years gaming 24/7, three of those years were in very hot ambient.
I have now upgraded to an RX 7900 XT also from ASUS, even thou the previous GPU died I could not move it to my office pc for further use which is quite sad as I usually move my gaming pc's absolute parts to be installed in my 2nd pc which an office pc, but I still think ASUS has great quality and I have high hopes that this new GPU will last longer, but what I really should be doing is moving out of the hot ambient location, I don't think it's doing me good neither.

I had a warmer day this week than I had previous years, the last hot summer we really had was 2019/20 when max temp was 44c one day, and I didn't have this GPU until 3 years later.

It was 39c yesterday, its cooler today. February is normally warmest month. See how it is this year.

I don't really have time to play any games right now so my GPU has an easy life. I am doing a training course and I don't need the distraction a game would cause.

I can't really compare temps I had in 2023 to now as I have changed both the cooling method for CPU - went from AIO to Air, and the intake fans are also different.

My last two GPU were made by Asus. One died after 5 years of use, a GTX980. The other one was replaced by the 7900xt I have now. I was going to move that 980 into a new PC so I totally get the pain of having a GPU die and needing to change plans.

I plan on giving most of my current PC to my mum in a few months time, as hers needs to be shot. I am just saving up to buy this

I will put my spare Asus 2070 Super into current PC as I am going to put 7900xt in new one.
Most of the times I give my old PC to a friend but mum needs it more than he does.
