My 3700x is running at about 82c during gaming. I am looking into a good 240mm aio soon but for now, is 81c fine for the 3700x?

Side note, what is a good 240mm aio for no more than $110?

What are you using right now?
Stock cooler. My case is definitely starved for oxygen. Since I upgraded to the Deepcool Matrexx 70 case, my gpu temps have gone up by 6c. So my plan is to put a decent 240mm aio on top to at least provide negative air pressure.

Do you have fans in the front of the case? With a case like that you should get at least 2 fans. Maybe consider getting s better cooler, but try getting fans in the front of your case first

What is your motherboard? Probably bios problem like the 3600 and maybe you will have to wait for a new bios realese. I am getting 45-50c at idle and 75-80c at full load with noctua cooler and r5 3600. Still 82c wont damage your cpu and its fine so dont waste money for aio just for that wait for new bios and the temps will come down.

Unless it's like 35c in your room, those temps are pretty concerning. Quite the contrast from the claimed temps of 63c. Which mobo is this for and why would the case be starved of air with all those fans ? Or do you just have it tucked away in a cabinet/enclosure ?

There is very little clearance in front panel, so the fans are not able to bring in much air. Plus, my 980ti is overclocked and puts off a lot of heat, more than my old 290x ever did. So my stock cooler for the 3700x is collecting hot air from my gpu. I have the Asus Tuf X570-plus wifi. Mobo is amazing but there are a few updates for it. I heard they hinder the performance though, so I'm a little reluctant to do it.

By the way, just ordered a Deepcool Castle 240EX to finish off my build. Probably don't need it but the pump looks amazing and will be a nice touch.

Ahh, I see. That makes sense. That's one thing that deters me from modern case design. There are hardly any options for side-panel induction like there were on the old cases.

My new build included the Matrexx 55 rgb. Came with 3 fans in the front and one for the rear. I added the Castle 240 pro aio. the temps are great. The air flow is great. They are correct might be a bios issue. Good Luck.

I have an ASUS Strix x470 itx board with the bios version 2501 and my 3700x gets way too hot as well. I've got a Kraken X52 AIO liquid cooler (240mm) and the CPU reacher 80-83c in prime95. Just now while browsing this forum it jumps between 50-60c doing hardly anything. Before this CPU I had a 2600 it ran roughly 15-20c cooler, although I did have it in another case with better airflow (a fractal nano s). (The room is quite hot though 27c) The 2600 used to Idle at 31c this one Idles at 41-45c when doing absolutely nothing, as soon as you move the mouse it jumps to over 50c.

My PC case is a Louqe Ghost S1, so it's pretty cramped to say the least. But I watched one of JayzTwoCents videos and he had a Ryzen 1800x with the same cooler in the same case and he got max temp of under 65c I think. Seems like something is not right.

Anyway an AIO liquid cooler won't really help it will still run extremely hot. The Ghost S1 case is made of quite thick aluminium side panels with lots of holes in them. The whole case gets so hot that you nearly burn your hands touching it. It's like when you put a bowl of soup in the microwave and you try to pick it up.

It could be worse, at least it doesn't throttle.
