Ive been holding out on upgrading to ryzen because of funds and I saw the new 2200g and the 2400g as an entry level into ryzen. I was just wondering what to expect going from a 8350 to a 2200g or a 2400g and is it worth buying the 2200g because it's 99$?

For overall CPU performance it's not worth it unless you can overclock it pretty high. As a CPU with integrated graphics upgrade it's good. Especially when you overclock it. and upgrading to this will force you to buy an AM4 motherboard and DDR4 RAM which will be all you need to eventually upgrade to a Ryzen 3, 5 or 7 or even the new chips that will come out using the Zen2 architecture. So it's a good option for preparing for the future. But if you have a dedicated GPU and don't use integrated graphics then as I just said it's not a good upgrade for just CPU power alone.

You can watch this video on it's performance and other videos like it by others in the scene like LinusTechTips, BitWit, Paul's Hardware etc.

New Ryzen G series (Raven ridge) is only good if you purchase higher frequency memory with it but that's all for an entry-level gaming while on the other hand 8350 is one of its kind which has 8 physical cores that results in better performance. In simple if you have 8350 overclock it to safe frequencies or if you are planning to buy new g series raven ridge don't forget to add budget for some good memory and motherboard.
