840 EVO vs MX100 perf diff

Hey all,

I have noticed something rather strange, and I am trying to understand the reason for this.

I have both a 840 EVO 250GB and a MX100 512GB installed in my system, my OS is installed on 840 EVO, and I have SS magician installed.

However, whenever I test the drives for write speed, MX100 seems to fall exactly inline with Tom's own testing, but 840 EVO is over 10 times its rated write speed as reported by Tom's.

I have used both Samsung Magician's benchmarking tool and CrystalDisk, both yielded similar results.

In reality, I have tried to play D3 off 840 EVO and MX100, there is a markedly faster loading speed on the 840 EVO over MX100, what exactly is happening here?

It would most likely be caused by Samsung's disk acceleration system - It uses some of your RAM as a cache for your SSD to improve the access times. You may want to disable this feature to get more accurate benchmarks.

Oh I am not benchmarking them, I was just testing to make sure they were working as intended, but I never expected an order of magnitude of difference.. much less higher by an order of magnitude

OK. Then it's fine as all that's happening is the software doing it's job .
