8400SE to GTS 450 is my system ok?

My pc build not kinda fast.

CPU: INTEL E5200 2.50ghz
ram: 2gb
8400SE (current gpu) <------- i upgrade this to GTS 450 EVGA
my pcie is 1.x but GTS 450 is 2.0
corsair 500 watts
i play at 1280 by 1024

PS: Im not a hardcore gamer i just want to play SMOOTH framerates MEDIUM TO HIGH

That would be a big upgrade and even more if you can overclock your CPU since at lower resolution like yours games are CPU bound.

Yeah the gts 450 is a MAJOR upgrade for your PC.You should be able to max out 90% of the games on the market at that rez.You will encounter problems in games like battlefield 3 and crysis,gta 4 as these games eat dual cores for breakfast
