850 evo vs 840 pro

Doing a complete pc overhaul with an asus z97 Maximus hero vii and i74970k and wondering what ssd I should go with. Thinking price per performance between 512 840 evo pro and 500 850 evo? Pro is about 30 bucks more at 280. Also, what's a good 16gb ram config for that processor and mobo? Going to be running an evga superclocked 970

Ditch Samsung - they have a bad rep from their recent failures. Their SSDs fubard really hard. There were many problems reported with slow response times and slow speeds when accessing files that were rarely used. Samsung responded that it was a firmware failure, updated firmware, SSDs still sucked.
I'd change it for Corsair MX100 for cheap space, Intel 730 for expensive speed and reliability 😀

Get the cheaper one , they are both fantastic storage devices.

I have a 840 Pro and 4 - 840 EVO's , all running smooth.
