i5-2400 + Windows 7: $276.98
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.723031276.98
quad core w. 8 GB RAM that loses only 2-5 FPS to is beefier 2500 brother. It doesn't overclock, so that affects the other choices I've made.

AS Rock H61M/U3S3 Motherboard: $69.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157236
an almost barebones mobo, except they added, outside of its usual spec, a pair of USB3 ports and a pair of SATA 3 ports, allowing you to consider an SSD upgrade later. it lacks RAID and overclock compared to a P67, but you arent using that. It also won't SLi/crossfire but you aren't going to need that either.

Wintec 8GB DDR3-1333: $39.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161364
Its basic RAM.

Seagate 1TB HDD + LG DVD burner: $72.48
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.696126
a fine SATA 3 drive (not that you'll notice the difference w/ SATA 2) and a DVD burner.

HIS HD6850 + Deus Ex: $149.99 w/ $10 rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.731492
This will handle anything you throw at it at 1680x1050, and generally high quality at 1920x1080.

Corsair CX430 v2: $44.99 w/ $20 rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026
more than enough power for this system.

Rosewill R102 case: $29.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147111
A bit old school, but solid. the 120mm fan included looks HUGE and really pulls a lot of air in this small space. the front 120mm slot has a nice dust filter

Rosewill 120mm blue LED fan: $7.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200049
you cal also get white or red LEDs, or no LED at all for the same $7.99 price. This is for the front, and looks quite nice without being obtrusive.

Masscool 80mm fan: $1.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835150007
this replaces the shroud in the side, as I'd rather have it as an intake.

Acer 21.5" 1920x1080 screen: $119.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009306

Logitech speakers: $12.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121013
Basic setup.

Rosewill USB Multimedia keyboard: $9.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823201039
functional. 😀. I've had a previous version of this keyboard working since 2000.

Rosewill 6-button mouse: $9.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826193058
again, finctional, and with up to 2400 dpi, and 3 programmable buttons, its a great gamer mouse.

total: $847.35, but $30 in rebates and $15 in shipping.

I said it was for my friend Michael you would have to ask him, he would be here but he has no net... yet for some reason he still wants a new pc....
I just recommended you guys my budget was 1k without a monitor and yes i will be playing skyrim at 1080I at full settings 😛

I strongly would try to convince him to wait a bit. Prices will go down by November. New technology is on the horizon, once the new tech is released, it drive the old tech prices down substantially.

$1000 will be much more in November than it will be now.

Coolermaster Elite 430 case. Antec ECO 520w PSU or better. ASRock PRO-M z68 micro ATX mobo, Intel i5-2400 or 2500K if you can, $20 DVD burner, $60 (WD or Samsung) 500 or 1000GB hard drive, Windows 7 HP 64-bit OEM, AMD 6870 or Nvidia 560, 8GB DDR3 1600+ G. Skill, Corsair, Mushkin (CAS 8 if you can get).

^ 1k will be much more in November? i don't think so. The price will go down but not that much .. wait till next year ad the price will go down and new stuff will be released. Wait for 5 more years .. no don't snap ur fingers at me .. wrong it will always go down (e.g.price) if u need to get something now get it now and don't wait for next technology
