I think that 85hz is the refresh at which human eye can't notice it is BS. My monitor is currently at 85Hz, and it is annoying. Is this supposed to be?

Maybe it's just you. 85 Hz is fine for me. I can't stand watching TV (26 Hz, I think), though. Gotta sit real far away from it.

Depends - it may not be due to the refresh rate - a good refresh rate is a must, but not all to make a good image (sharpness, clarity, image geometry,...)

Many people can't tell the difference between 75Hz and 85Hz.

U kidding me? 75 Hz is so much different than 85Hz. Good thing I'm getting an LCD which doesn't need to refresh...

I agree, I'm running on a Viewsonic EF70 at 1024X768 at 86 Hz which is perfect for me, I really dont notice anything, but when I go in 1290X1024 it's 66 Hz and there is a huge difference. I also tried with other refresh rate and I notice the refresh at about 75 hz.

Now what's next...

Now does that mean those who can't see it have less tired eyes, b/c even if you don't notice 85Hz, don't sleep one night and you will.

Different people's eyes are different sensitivities. Many people can look at 70Hz monitors all day and not see it, and some people (like me) can see the scan lines on anything less than 90. Especially my peripheral vision. Drives me crazy to look at something that's next to the monitor, because it looks like it's flickering to me. Set to 120 it looks great though.

Oh man, peripheral is horrible, I too can't stand being next to anything that isn't 120 or above. Also being farther away I notice it even more (which is odd, shouldn't you notice it less?)
