8600Gt Vs. GTS250

My brother thinks that his 8600Gt is better than my GTS250 In 3dmark 06 i get like 10700-11000 he get 6400 He says it just a benchmark means nothing so which one is better?

GTS 250, hands down. It absolutely slaughters the 8600gt in performance. Just so you know, the gts 250 is an updated version of the 9800gtx+ which is an faster version of the 8800 ultra.

Just look at the shader count -- 32 vs 128.

Don't rely too much on benchmark, play some games and see what FPS did you get using FRAPS. You will see a huge performance increase from 8600GT.

The 8800 gts had a core clock of 650, the 9800gtx+ had a clock of 738...
And since the ultra and 512mb have the same cuda count, it could still be considere an OCed 8800 ultra, right?

The two uses a similar architecture so you can compare Shader count and clocks also.
Your GTS250 is clocked higher and has 3X the shaders than that 8600GT.

Just try playing any moderately-demanding games @1080P and see that 8600GT struggle even with low settings.

And since the ultra and 512mb have the same cuda count, it could still be considere an OCed 8800 ultra, right?

The 8800 Ultra was G80, the 8800GTS 512MB, 9800GTX, 9800GTX+ and GTS 250 were all G92. So not really.

And @ OP, your brother sounds pretty jealous of your card, he certainly should be.

Awesome just showed him this thread and said this "They are lieing, So we to play mw 2 he at all max settings at 1650x1050 and he got a low 10 - 30 Fps i got a whoping 90 - 120 Fps


EDIT: We used same computer to benchmark as he keeps saying his GFX Card is better We just changed the graphics card on the mobo.

Ofcourse, I knew this from the start just i wanted to show my bro the thread, the gts 250 is clearly more powerfull as it has Double the memory its GDDR3 Its had 64GB Memory Bandwidth 128 Unified shaders it had a famous and powerfull G92 It has 784 Transistors.. Etc so much better in all ways just my brother only believes what he wants to believe, But i know, that he really does know mine is better.
