Hi 8700k all benchmarks and prime95 all fine but sometimes in games I get jumping grathics now and then ? Any idea if i turn it down to 5.1 I dont get it ....

Solution
what GPU are you running in your rig? BF1 can be demanding specially on Ultra DX12. Experiencing frame drops is not uncommon.

the last patch for BF1, seemed to cause performance issues for some setup's too. It could be that.

But at 5.1 be happy out. If you are stable at 5.1 you can begin dropping the voltages regardless of the water loop. Just put the voltages down one notch at a time, and retest with prime untill you hit an error. Then you know where you min voltage is for 5.1

you've answered your own question. If it doesn't happen at 5.1 leave it. The extra 100mhz at that speed will yield no benefits for your gaming experience, other than the already mentioned slight instability. it would appear it's not 'fine' after all.

if you have a BLCK increase too, id take that off. That could affect the GPU.

Ok just thought if it was running prime 95 and all the benchmark programs it was fine. Not in till I played battlefield I seen it jump every now and again I thought it was because my misses was on you tube .
But not the case ... thanks for the info may be I can drop the voltage when I fit the loop ..

Solution
Its a new set up a week old
1080 ti
32 g Corsair vantage 3200
Aorus ultra gaming
8700k
I have not tryed it on any other games I am running a triple monitor setup @ 5760 x 1080 res

lovely rig, along with the Trip Monitor. See if it's just BF1, then you know it could be just that game, and not something indicative of a system problem.

got it sorted I turn off dx12 and it's working fine at 5.2 1.37v tried 5.3 @1.4 v but its on air so that's my limit
. crashes after a few minutes in prime95 . But All in all well happy now ....
Thanks

excellent. result :)

Yeah DX12 in BF1 is a turkey if you ask me. At first it was unplayable. Then a patch from a few months ago made it really good, and then a subsequent patch broke it again. I'm on DX11 with BF1.

What is worth noting though is the FPS for 5.0/5.1/5.2, if you don't see an increase in FPS back off the OC to 5ghz. there is just no point. Of course, running the CPU with less voltage and more manageable temps will prolong the life of the CPU.

Enjoy :)

Will do thanks I will put it to 5 no matter what fps but as you know you have to see how far it will go .its in our nature lol got to do it all again when I watercool it lol what do you thunk max volts on watercooling I have a 240 rad good block and pump I'm running my gpu off a separate loop

i hear ya :) gotta push them components and see what they can do. I love it. But then sometimes, i think 'Oh, did i just break something!' :) Then realise I didn't and it's fun again!! :) :)

Hmmm. As much as I like the idea of water cooling, and custom loops. I've never had one. I guess, when good air coolers can hit similar temps as the water coolers, I kind just thought that i don't want water anywhere near my bits, in case......and i know i'm being over cautious here, but in case they feckin leak!! :)

With all of that said, ive seen posters saying the get mid 20's for idle, 40-50 gaming and maybe 55-65c stressing. That's impressive. With having the temps so low, it's possible to push the CPU's even more. That's nearly a 10c delta on the air coolers. So you can potentially push the CPU/Voltages a little more, providing your temps are where you like them. There are so many variables, it's hard to advise what to do.

BTW, if i didn't say it already (and I know I did! :)) I'm so jealous of your system. It must be glorious on the trip monitor set up. Have you looked a the single monitor widescreens, like this : https://www.custompcparts.ie/asus-pg348q-34-ultrawide-quad-hd-led-aluminium-black-computer-monitor.ireland.direct.gaming.components?fee=12&fep=57165&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0viqo6jx2AIVZbXtCh0rDwTQEAQYASABEgJUN_D_BwE#.Wmjb3qhl-Uk

That's what i would have with your setup!!! NOM NOM NOM :)

Yes fella sound love that monitor but the price lol. Iv crapped my self a few thimes already with my new setup as i dont no the limet yet lol. I payed £350 for my monitor set up 3 reconditioned 24" screens and a it's awesome for the money driving game are awesome and 1st person shooters I'll sort some pics out when I get it all looking tidy it's carnage at the moment .got a cougar Conquer tower but not built it all yet still waiting for the loop bought a inno3d 1080 ti the cooler it's rubbish . max out on temp all the time but it a good clocker it will 2050 core with no problems just hot hot hot
