Motherboard: Asus Prime Z370-A
Case: Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 5 RGB
CPU: Intel i7 8700K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S

I used the ASUS overclock wizard in the BIOS to overclock it.

I was using UserBenchmarks software to benchmark the PC and at one point two/one of the cores hit 100c and the computer froze for like 3 seconds.

The result says my CPU was 122% outstanding lol.

This is the first time i tried overclocking and according to my reasearch 100c was dangerous. Maybe that’s why my PC was frozen for 3 seconds to let the CPU cool down?

Just worry would there be any damage done to the CPU cause of the high temperature?

Solution
Don't use auto overclocking utilities, they typically overvolt your CPU causing unnecessarily high temps, as you experienced. While 100C is really hot the system would of shut down to prevent damage.

If you want to overclock then do it the right way via BIOS adjusting speed/voltage as you go. Read this guide thoroughly, then try overclocking again with the proper tools (in the guide).

100 celsius isn't good. I recommend you not use the auto overclock wizard, it will pump too much voltage into the chip to ensure stability and will result in extreme temperatures. The big problem with the 8700k is it gets very hot once you get past about 1.3 Vcore and anything past 1.35 Vcore typically requires a delid to keep temperatures under control regardless of cooling. Making matters worse is your case, looking at it it doesn't appear to have great ventilation, with the two front fans being put up against a glass panel, with maybe a small gap at the bottom for air to get in.

I would suggest trying a manual overclock, and if you do want to push up to 1.4 Vcore, you're going to have to delid your chip.
