Have a question : I have a Delidded 8700k. I’m OC to 4.7 ghz @ 1.250v on the vcore. I have a DarkRockPro4 Cooler. I have a Gigabyte Aorus gaming 7 Mobo & 16 Gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz. Have a gtx1080ti 11Gb. Custom phantom tower with efficient cooling. My question is , should my delid 8700K @ 4.7 ghz with the DarkRockPro4 be at peak temps of 72C? Been reading people have there 8700K OC to 5 ghz or 5.2ghz at like 1.34v or 1.36v and they are peaking at like 70C . That’s insane ? Is there a guide for the stable 4.7ghz ? Or more less what major bios settings I should change only . I used this format video but changed the multiplier to 4.7ghz and set Vcore to 1.250v instead of what he had ...other than that I followed the rest of the video . Anyone have help please? Thank you

Well I run delidded I7-8086K (which really is a glorified 8700K) at 5.1GHz at 1.33-1.36v

I use Corsair H150i PRO for cooling and let me ask you this, when you say 72C, it's 72C at what? Gaming? Idle? Stress tests?

Because my temps are like this

Gaming - around ~60C
General stress tests (Prime95 for 21 hours and such, no AVX) - up to 84C max.
Torture stress test - OCCT small set + AVX for an hour - up to 94C max.

It really depends on what you are talking about, if those temps are for gaming or idle then you need to reseat cooler properly with new thermal paste and such AND/OR check:

1. Airflow in your case, maybe you don't have sufficient fans there.
2. Make sure your PC is not tucked into some corner under the table with no way for...

3. Make sure you don't have a ton of clutter in case.
4. Make sure your case fans are configured properly with front fans being intake and top and back fans blowing hot air out of the case

So on the CoreTemp app I’m running right now as the Sim is in progress. I’m using Prepar3D V4.3 inflight to Hawaii as we speak. Flying 4 hours now . The coretemp app shows all the cores running . The temps vary showing minimum 49c to max 71C right now for 4 hours In progress. I don’t know where it shows the average as the temps are fluctuating while the sim is in progress . I gave a phantom X custom tower . 2 fans in front are intake, 2 fans on top Exhausting , 1 fan rear exhausting, 1 fan side panel exhausitng . Have the Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU cooler. Brand new Pc so no dust/debris. Although my pc is under my desk , I’m about 7 feet from the balcony sliding glass door although The temps upside today are around 83F and humidity is high. CPU is delidded by delid technician. I have all cores being used in P3D cuz that is there hiccup with there sim that they have it coded to use 75% of core 0 on the sim. I had to insert into the P3D config file a line item :
[jobscheduler]
AffinityMask=0

That line item allows all cores to use P3D and any other addon like my REX weather addons /Skyforce3D. So all my cores are being utilized for P3D

That temp is on full load . I am currently flying now with live Weather and all AI aircraft in the skies . So I just checked and it says Max: 70C and Min: 49C.....that’s the reading on all cores. I don’t know where it shows the average . This is not a stress test this is me flying P3D v4.3 and 4 hours into the flight over the pacific with cloud cover . Do u think it’s something in the config file of P3D ? Is it the video link
I posted above of me following that video for my OC but I used 4.7 instead of 5ghz and I’m using 1.250v for the Vcore ? I’m trying to get an idea that if 70C for a delidded CPU and Dark Rock Pro with the amount of fans I have should not be hitting 70C at a 4.7 ghz overclock? If u watch video from link above , does anything in that video sound “NOT TO DO”
