8700k + rtx 2080 lag and bad benchmarks

I just built a pc with an 8700k cpu and rtx 2080 gpu. I've been playing older games because I enjoy them the most, but whenever I play newer games on high setting, I get lots of lag. I also did a benchmark (unigine heaven extreme) and I got a score of 2000 which is much lower than everyone else with the same specs as me. I have 16gb ram as well. Any help would be appreciated!

is the 2080 the graphics card being used and not the igpu?
