Hi all,
I have an hp 8740w laptop, and over the past few months it has been making a strange noise. The laptop will all of a sudden make a *chirp* noise.
Sometimes it can go a few hours/days/weeks and it won't do it.
I have tried leaving it unplugged, plugged, without the wireless mouse it usually has connected, with the mouse, low power settings/brightness and vice versa.
It almost seems entirely random, and I have tried searching for as many combinations of 'chirp, beep, noise' I can think of and I haven't seen anyone else with the issue.
I don't think its a head crash, because I've heard that before, and this noise sounds distinctly electronic.
I don't suppose anyone else has heard of this or possibly had this happen? I can take it apart and all, but I really loathe taking hp laptops apart just to take it apart and hope it makes the noise that particular day.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
