8800 GTS: Poor quality in 1080i/720p on Component

I don't know much about HDTV connections from the computer.

I hooked my computer to my HD TV (1080i Samsung Tube), and the text was fuzzy on my icons and the visible area was mis-shapen.

I've tried this on the same TV with a 1950 XT and the same thing happened.

Is this oversampling? Will resizing my picture fix the issue? I assume this is a common issue?
