It's probably just going to be a midrange card hopefully in the $200~ range. The midrange market is going to be the biggest segment for most system builders so this could be a good alternative over whats available now, of course depending on pricing.

I myself generally live in the mid range of cards too (using a 6600GT right now even) so this card applies to the many people like me =D

The 8800GT should be close to the performance of a GTS but for much less $, good news indeed! The problem I think, is that ATI's 2950HD offerings sound better (and very competitively priced).

Don't rush out an by anything people, wait until we have more information on both of these products coming out in late October, or early November if you are serious about a GFX card purchase this fall.

8800GT vs 2950HD in a steel cage match! Coming this November only on PAY PER VIEW! =0

It seems the 8800GT is meant to be a slimmer single slot GTS (320mb version) replacement. It'll be offered cheaper than the 320 GTS and clocked just about the same. I'm more interested to see just what the G98 cards are since all this time it was thought the new G92/G98's were supposed to be the new 9 Series cards. Nvidia has been really quite about this all summer long. With these cards nearing release it'll be interesting to see what developes over the next month or so.

The reason the 8800GT's are replacing the 8800GTS 320MB card is because 65nm is so much cheaper to build, and I've heard that they will OC quite well along with 512MB being the standard amount of Vram for the 8800GT. I can't wait any longer for the 8800GTX, who knows when NVidia will release the 9800GTX. Come November 12th if I don't see a 9800GTX then I'm getting a 8800GTX.

there is no 9800gtx... theres going to be g98 which is an entry level card, I think thats where people got confused. Next high end is supposedly a dual 65nm card, probably a 8800gt dual card.

I kinda wanted the BFG 8800ultra/gtx WC'd card, but at this rate im just going to get a GTX from EVGA and put my own block on it, kinda disapointed they havent come down in price.

NVidia should try putting two 8800GTX GPU's in its dual card.

Yea I thought that might be the problem, not that a 800W PSU couldn't handle it but the PCI-E slot can only handle so much voltage. The PCI-e slot is the bottleneck here.

Does anyone have any idea what the min PSU will be for this. I currently have an Enermax EG365AX 350W PSU and would like to hold on to it a little longer but still upgrade my aging 7600GT to an 8800 if I can.

For the 8800GT? The power consumption should be quite a bit less then current 8800 cards right?

500-650W power supply should be sufficient? Your 350W is probably pushing it, and very well may not be enough power, but I think some other guys here with more experience need to chime in on this one.=?

Yer, it was the 8800GT I was talking about. It says on the nVidia site that the min PSU needed for the 8800GTS is 400W so maybe the 8800GT will be a little less?

I saw 2 different links regarding this. How reliable? Don't remember where I saw them but anyway:
1.TDP between
7900GS (45w) and 7900GTX (84w)

2.110w
which would indicate a 7950GX2

Like I stated don't know if it's BS but I think they were from Fudzilla or VR-Zone, who knows?
All I know is I hope my PC Power 26amp will be enough.

Don't get your hopes up , 350Watt is not good enough for any 8800. I'd be very suprised if you were able to run an 8800GT on 350W.
