8800GT to GTX 260 worth it?

Recently one of my 2 8800GT's died and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to a GTX 260 or Radeon 4890 and maybe use my 8800GT as a dedicated phsyx card. I don't really want to spend a lot more then $200 but I also don't want to have to replace the card 6 months later. I currently game at 1680x1050 with no plans to upgrade from that res anytime soon. What are your opinions?

In that case, get a GTX 275 and use your 8800 as a physx card.

In the future, you can drop out the 8800 if you like and sli the 275, if you manage to find one.....
If you cant find a 275, then 4890 is the one that performs more or less like it...

Why would I get a 275 for $300 when I could get a 4890 for $200 if they perform alike.

Why would I get a 260 if two 8800GT is more powerful? Wouldn't I just want to get another 8800GT for $100?

from what I see it doesn't seem worth the money to upgrade at this point.

Because you would still be able to use the 8800GT as PhysX card without messing with hacked drivers.

If you can find one, go for it.

Unless you have a game that you can't play at the moment, now is not a good time to be upgrading.

Seems this lays out a perty good line up of choices

So does anyone think it is worth the upgrade, I'm only really willing to go up to $300 including tax and I don't see how 2 GTS 250 adds up to only $240 the cheapest one I've seen is $140.

get a 5850 if 300 is your budget. If you live in CAN then 13% tax isnt that big of a deal for a superior card. Just get the 5850. Sell your other 8800gt if you need the money.

The cheapest 5850 on newegg is $324 then with shipping and tax it's already $382 a bit over budget.

At this point I don't really know, if it is as little a difference as dx9-dx10 then maybe not. It might be nice to have a dx11 capable card for the future?

I am currently running Crysis Warhead at 1680x1050, Gamer settings, Dx9, no AA at 30-40 fps with some noticable dips, what would it take to run it at 1680x1050, Enthusiast settings, no AA, dx10 at around the same frames and maybe less drops in fps?

My other specs are q9450 @ 3.4ghz, 4gb DDR2 800 RAM and a single 8800GT 650/1620/1000

Another 8800GT.

he only has one....

Just pick up another 8800 and you will be set until you have some more cash and a bigger need to upgrade.

1 of the 8800gt's died and he'd be better off selling the one left and moving on to the other one. And if you live in Canada there's one (5850) for $310 at this store http://infonec.com/site/main.php?module=detail&id=449922. It was on sale 2 days ago for $280 and I was just at the store today, they have 2 in stock.

With tax that's $119 over budget.

So yea if he can sell his 8800gt for $50, then with tax and $300 max he'll be able to get one.

He can also get a 4890, it has slight more power then 2 8800gt's

I was getting under 50 fps at points in L4D2 the other day and it caused notciable mouse lag which I hate more then anything in game performance. My max budget is only $340 and I'm pretty suprised that it wouldn't get me much more performance then two 8800GT's. I just want something that will perform well for awhile. ATI cards seem like better value but if I get an Nvidia card I can SLI it in the future due to my Nvidia Mobo and I can use my 8800GT as a dedicated phsyx card (I'm not sure how much this helps performance but I'm sure it helps.

Is there any card for me or should I just wait it out.

I can get an EVGA 275 for $324 including shipping and tax, so it is in my budget.
