8800GTS SLi or GTX 260 core 216 (don't have pcie 2.0)

Okay, here's the problem.

I have:

I had:

I run a 22" wide monitor at 1680x1050

I can spend $220, so this is what I'm looking at:
2x 8800GTS (total $220) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130325
1x GTX275 (total $220) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130475

I had a 8800 gts before, and it ate almost everything I ever threw at it. I play wow, cod4/5, tf2, l4d, etc. I don't own crysis.
wow, cod4/5, tf2, l4d... all those games i've been able to play with all the settings on max (except wow because it's gotten more graphically intensive lately, so i had to turn it down just a LITTLE but they were on max). I wish I could tell you what the fps's were, but now that the card is dead, i can't really test that out for anyone :/, but i can say that they were all suitable enough for me, and they always looked fantastic.
also, not always, but sometimes i turn vsync on because it helped reduce screen tearing. My monitor is 60hz, if that matters at all to any of the info. But I don't always have it on, just sometimes, it's weird that I like to switch back and forth.

I like the idea of running two cards in sli for the performance, and for the physx card idea, but is it worth it to get these two old cards? And will they perform better (for what I mentioned I want) than 1 gtx?

I have a 700wt psu with the right power connectors, so that's not a problem, and I have 8gigs of 5-5-5-15 ddr2 800 ram.

Just don't know what to do! What does everyone else think?

single GPU is the way to go... no sli or crossfire problems.

don't know about the rest of your system but spend what you can afford now and enjoy the benefit of a new gpu. (could get better with a new cpu and more)

If you are happy withe the gts320 just get the 8800/9800 and save the $$$

8800GTS is an old card.....
If you had even one of them then sli was the way to go but since Urs's is toasted then there is no point of buying two new old tech cards........

I think you should go with single GTX 275.You may sli it up later.It will easily run games at 1680x1050 .

If you are buying a new card because you have to replace a dead one then why buy 2 year old kit, a GTX 275 is the obvious and better choice.
