8800GTX OC'ing Voltage Question

I have a MSI 8800 GTX card (with a HR-03+ cooler on it). I have been working on overclocking it. Stock numbers are 610/1000/1350. I currently have it at 648/1000/1490, and I'm starting to get artifacts after a few minutes of ATI Tool artifact searching. I am also using a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R motherboard, and in the BIOS there is a "PCI-E OverVoltage Control" listed with these options: Normal, +.1v, +.2v, and +.3v. If I increase this, does it do what I think it does? Does it increase voltage to the card, so I can get a better overclock out of the card? I read on these forums that the way to increase voltage on these 8800 cards is by physically soldering on them, but I seem to have a BIOS setting for it. Before I use it though I want to make sure that that is what it does.

Thanks.
