Hey guys.

I have :

  • P7P55D mobo
    i5 750
    Kingston 2Gb DDR3 PC3-10700(667Mhz) #Slot4
    Gskill 2gb DDR3 PC3-10700H(667 Mhz) #Slot3
    Kingston 4gb DDR3 PC3-12800(800Mhz) #Slot1
    Windows 10 64bit
    ATI HD 7870 2GB Vram

I can't seem to get 8gb available whatever the combo of slots i try!
I can get 6gb if i connect the 4GB plus whatever 2GB Stick i choose.

I've updated the bios the latest version.
I've tried all solutions i've managed to find and none worked. If i change the slots combo sometimes the computer wont even boot up :S

Please help :bounce:

Well you're mixing three different types of RAM with varying size and frequency, so I can't say I'm at all suprised. Mixing RAM is never guaranteed to work, and the more variation you add in the less likely it is to succeed.

Have you tried just to two 2gb cards together to make sure they are both functioning properly? Basically there are three possibilities from what I can see:

1) One of the 2GB sticks is faulty. You can test this by trying just to start up the machine with the 2GB cards installed, or even just one 2GB card at a time.

2) The RAM might need to be manually adjusted in your BIOS. You'll need to go into the BIOS and adjust RAM voltages. I don't personally recommend this, but it would be an option.

3) There's also a chance the RAM just won't work together because it is mixed.

The absolute BEST solution would be to save up for a true 2x 4GB RAM pack. RAM sold in packs is tested together at the factory to work and would be much more reliable than mixing three different sticks with varying frequencies.

The 2x2Gb were working together before i added the 4Gb today. If i set the 2gb rams on the same color then it doesnt boot. If i set them on different colors it's another story they do.
When i add the 4gb its when everything falls to pieces. But if i add just 1 2gb and the 4gb then it works

Update: The 2x2 Gb Rams on the same color dont work. But the 2gb Ram + 4gb Ram works on the same color. It's when i add the 2gb Ram that i get 4Gb available

Set your BIOS to run your memory at DDR3 667 using the 2GB Kingston stick. Then the others might work. Your memory will only run at the slowest stick's speed. Try setting the parameters: 9-9-9-24-33 @ 2T command rate. Your new 4GB stick is the odd one out, as it is trying to run the slower ones at a faster setting, but they won't go. Before, they were running together because they are rated at the same speed.

I've managed to get 8gb installed (6gb available)
Slot1 - 4gb Stick
Slot2 - 2Gb Kingston Stick
Slot3 - 2gb Gskill Stick

But ill try to do that

It's the Gskill Stick. Without the 2Gb Kingston it doesnt even boot. Also i coudlnt set the my memory to run at 667 without underclocking my cpu, is that the only way? Maybe i'm better off with 6gb?

You should be able to set your memory to run at whatever speed you want. You'd be better off with fast ram. I'd try to get another 4GB stick of the same model as the one you have and sell the other two individually on EBay.

I have some news. My Gskill originally was a 2x2GB Kit but one of them had malfunctioned. I don't know why but i've put them all together and now they're booting after i pressed the MEM!OK button. But still. 10Gb(6gb usable)

I've tried applying your settings.

Dram to 1333Mhz DONE

Dram timings is a problem because i can only put 9-9-9-24 the next one ( that is set up as 4 on the photo) only goes up to 7.
Is it the ACT WIN Time? That i've set to be 33 Dram? If yes then it's still not working

If what you wanted at 33 was the tRFC i dont get a 33 option.. Lowest one is 42 then Auto

This is how my sticks are set up

CAS = 9
RAS to CAS = 9
Pre = 9
tRAS = 24
tRC = 33

CMD or CR = 2

Are you saying your RAS to CAS only goes to 7? Try removing your HyperX 12800 stick and see if the numbers change. Wouldn't hurt to throw a CMOS clear in there before you try to reboot either. It "should" be able to go up higher. I have a feeling this stick has tighter timings at lower speeds due to it's faster rated speed, and could be telling your BIOS that it wants to run faster. RAM can be tricky when dealing with oddly matched sticks. I've had some real headaches trying to max out ram using mismatched sticks in the past. Eliminating the one causing issues while trying to max out capacity is a real PITA, especially when you end up running with slower sticks to get higher capacity. But for most applications speed is preferable to capacity unless you don't have enough RAM to run the applications you're trying to run.

Also, I think you didn't do the right one for your tRC setting. I don't think "ACT WIN time" was it. That should be set to AUTO I think, and your Cycle Time could be your tRAS, but for now just worry about the top 4 settings. Set them to 9,9,9,24 in that order from the top and have everything else on auto. Don't worry about the 33 right now, and try booting like that. What I'm trying to do is tell your system to run at the max speed your slowest RAM stick can run, since the faster ones should be able to run the same speeds no problem. The BIOS may get confused with mismatched sticks and not know which speed to set it to, so this may work.
