8gb installed 4gb usable.

I got new ram for my computer and I have installed 2 4gb sticks into slot 1 and 3 and it tells me that I only have 4gb usable. I have search online and can not find anything to solve my problem, can someone help me please, Thanks.

I have 64bit.

reading the manual says, for 2 dimm, you either use 1-2 or 3-4, 1-3 is actually on 1 channel.

reading the manual says, for 2 dimm, you either use 1-2 or 3-4, 1-3 is actually on 1 channel.

I changed the ram to slots 1 and 2 like you said and it didn't make a difference, it still says 4 out of 8gb usable.

here is something you can try.
1.what CPU are you using? if you are using those 2200g 2400g, check your vram size allocation in bios
2.try 1 stick at a time, boot into windows, are you able to get 4 gb each time?

here is something you can try.

2.try 1 stick at a time, boot into windows, are you able to get 4 gb each time?

I have a ryzen 5 1400 and I tried 1 stick at a time and they both boot with 4 out of 4gb usable.

Start menu search - system configuration - boot tab - advanced options - make sure maximum memory box is NOT checked.
