8gb installed showing 4GB

Using Asus rampage GENE II motherboard with an i7 920 processor
was using 4gb ddr3 1333 transcend ram (2x2GB) for a yr now
wanted to upgrade...added 2 more 2x2 DD3 1333 transcend rams...
windows not showing 8gb.....cpuz shows 8 gb

windows 7 ultimate 64 bit OS

Sounds like you have got yourself the famous 4 GB out of n GB usable problem. I am pretty sure this question is asked at least once a week in this forum. Anyway, here you go:

msconfig>boot>advances options

untick maximum memory

Also, try update bios, reset CMOS battery and make sure you are using 64 bit OS.

dude the msconfig thing gave me a blue screen...had to wait for a day just to get my OS CD....also Bios is updated

Wow, BSOD on msconfig. Something is worng and I think it is a bigger problem.

Are they OC and the new and the old RAM, are they exactly the same?

Hi, did you enable memory hole remapping the bios?

just got my PC back....reinstalled OS have 8 gb ram installed
no bios update available for motherboard
no remapping option in bios
