8GB RAM. 3.45 being used

I have a Windows 8.1 64 bit system with 8 GB RAM. For some reason the system has started using only 3.45 GB RAM. Everything was fine until a week ago. I tried unchecking the box in msconfig but it didnt make any difference. Please help me as about to cry.

Check your bios for memory remap enabled or disabled.

Removing and putting back the RAM sticks resolved the issue. Thank you for your help.
