Due to how Android works it is fairly pointless. If Android would run more than one program at a time it would make sense to have lots of ram. Perhaps there has been a change in how it works and programs you have ran are kept in memory now. But 3-6GBs of ram seems to be all a phone needs right now.
Think of Apple. Up until recently all their phones and tablets had 1GB of ram. 1GB. Even now I think they are shipping with only 2GBs. Phone programs don't use tons of ram, no need for that much.
