8Gb Ram installed and 3.95GB usable??? PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi. After i recently installed my hyper 212 evo i noticed my PC was lagging. I checked how much RAM i was using and it was like 75% on start up!! then 65%+ idle. Below is a screen grab of my computer properties. I have 64bit windows and it was fine before i installed mt new cooler.

The only 2 things I can think of is, you bumped the RAM.
Try re-seating it.

Do you have high static electricity?

Thanks for the reply.

I have just re seated my ram and there was no change in usage and i;m about to do a RAM test using the built in windows one. I'll get back to you with the results.

windows detected no defects in the ram but i still have the same issue. I did change the ram from slots 1-3 to 2-4. Would this cause this issue?

That would be my guess, but that doesn't explain why the memory test saw slot 2-4.

I'd put the old cooler back on, and see if it still works with slot 1-3.

I know it sucks, but computer trouble shooting is a series of long boring tests, you have to love it.

I could be a bad memory slot.

When you have access to all slots, try 1-2 and 3-4.
I know you won't get dual channel, but may tell you if all the slots work.

Try 1 stick in all slots.
Test with every combination you can think of.

OK, thanks I did manage to get a stick into the first ram slot so I don't need to remove the cooler ( thank god!!) But I'm gonna try every possible combination like us said. Thx again

Nvm fixed it. I've had to run the ram in single channel (1-2) and it works. Any clue why this might be. Gonna try every other combo still

Not really.

I know it isn't the answer, but single vs dual isn't as big a difference as everybody thinks.
I've never seen a benchmark with more than a 10% difference.
