I have 8gb ram and I am looking to start doing gaming. I have the gfx card i'm going to buy but I am concerned about my ram. With my average use I usually have about 5.1-6gb Ram free, should I update to improve gaming? Virus protection seems most ram hungry...

Windows 10
i5 4460 3.4ghz
8gb ram
1tb
msi gtx750ti

RAM is what you should worry about last. First GPU, then CPU. RAM is pretty irrelevant, as long as you have 8gb. 99% of all games are perfectly fine with 8gb RAM @1080p even on anything ultra. Only stuff like Total War might need a little more than 8gb on max settings (not the game alone, the whole system). But anything else will be no problem at all.
From what I have read (admittedly I am no expert so feel free to correct me) 8GB is plenty as the most a game will use is 4GB. If you where thinking about getting more RAM I wouldn't but I would use that money to put towards a better CPU or GPU.
