Hello, I'm trying to fit an RX 470 into a PSU with a really low amount of watts. Does any1 know which brand carries the 8GB variant with the lowest tdp under max load? Also does underclocking lower power consumption and is there any way to set a limit to how much power the gpu can consume?

Solution
What PSU are you dealing with specifically? "low wattage" is one thing, but if it's low wattage & fairly poor quality, it's just asking for trouble.

An 8GB RX470 is 110-120W TDP, regardless of manufacturer, there's really no way around that, shy of downclocking the card etc.
If that's the case, a 4GB RX 460 or GTX 1050ti (4GB) are 75W cards and might be smarter/cheaper options.

Yeah, I figured that, someone already confirmed on another post that the 320w HP PSU I have would be enough without alot of other stuff, I really wanted an all AMD system and it's killing Me that the MSI 1050ti LP is not out.

320W strikes me as a little low for an AMD based system, and HP's PSUs can range from horrible to 'meh' at best, so I wouldn't be too confident with that...

As an FYI though, the RX470 requires supplementary power from the PSU, and I doubt a pre-built HP 320W would have the relevant connectors...

Yeh, it's been a sticky situation from the start, I can't believe the "$179" 8GB GPU is in the $230 range, it's a budget build and using a riser, plus the price of the card is pushing it, plus i dont want it to blow up because I want 4.9TFlops of power but I wonder if AMD will ever make a $1-200 Low Pro 8GB card... The Firepro w4300 is LP and is a little bit underspec vs a 1050ti but those'll be garbage in games because they aren't made for them.
