Apologies in advance if this topic has already been discussed elsewhere.

I recently came across a beautiful monitor that I was thinking about purchasing to compliment my gaming set up. My current monitor (AOC e2343F) has a 5ms response time but this one (HP Pavilion 23xi) has an 8ms response time. My understanding of monitor panels is limited but I'm led to believe that the HP monitor uses an IPS panel, which I think is better. Anyway, my question is; is it worth the new purchase, and if I do buy it will I see any negative effects or not notice at all? Thanks in advance.

In a lot of cases people will upgrade thier monitor to a bigger size and not go to a same size monitor. It would make me ask why? I don't know if I would do it just based on the panel type.
As far as the 5ms to 8ms goes , I recently went from a 27" 2ms monitor to a 30" 7ms monitor and didn't notice any difference in gaming. I don't think I would go over 8ms.

It wasn't the panel that made me consider the 'upgrade', it's just that I'm really fussy about the aesthetics of my monitor and think that the HP monitor looks much nicer and has a better build quality, but was wondering if I'd see any major differences.

As I stated in my post I don't think that the 8ms will be that noticable but then I'm not you and I don't know how you are with your gaming and how much you notice or don't notice. I also don't know your ISP service and if you have a great connection or just a so-so connection. DSL or Cable.
So there are a lot of factors involved in asking if it's noticable or not. I don't have a great cable internt connection so when I went from 2ms to 7ms I don't know if it would have been noticable, but as far as I can tell my gameplay has been the same.
Any differences would be minor.
