Hello i have a CPU i5-8400. But its currently connected to a 4 pin. Does the 8pin give you more power and more stability. Whats the difference. What should i plug?

Solution
Yeah it has the 8pin CPU. But it's just connected to 4? Does the minimize the speed and things. Should i connect it to 8?

Did it come like this from HP? If so then it's ok. 4 pins should provide all the power you need for the 8400 and they may just use 8 pin since they probably use that mobo with other CPUs.
Tampa 2 motherboard

I'm looking at the HP website for that motherboard and dont see any 4 pin on that motherboard. I see teh 24 pin ATX power, the 8 pIn CPU power and a 6 pin GFX power, not entirely sure what this is, but given its name and location I'm assuming to provide additional power to the PCIe slots probably for a multi GPU setup.

Are you confusing the 8 pin for a 4 pin?
