Hello. I recently just bought a GTX 1060 and my power supply is somewhere around 450-550 watts. My power supply has two “6 pins” with a 2 pin connected to each of them to make an 8 pin. I currently took one of the 6 pins with the extra 2 pins attached and plugged it into the 8pin on my GTX 1060. I was wondering if it would be better to take the adapter they gave me which is an 8 pin to two 6 pins and plug both of them in. Thank you and if it doesn’t make sense I will clarify more.

Solution
PSU manufacturers use the 6+2 pin connector instead of a solid 8-pin because the 6+2 is more flexible on it's use. For all intents and purposes 6+2=8.
