I am planning to build a new gaming PC. I m confused when it comes to CPU. The 9th generation CPUs haven't launched yet properly in my country. Only the 8th generation CPUs are available.
What should i do ?
Should i wait for 9th generation?
What type of additional performance gain will i get for choosing the 9th gen ?
What will i loose if i go ahead with 8th gen ?

Solution
I'm assuming since you're asking about the K chip you are wanting to overclock. The main difference is the 9th gen i5 might run a bit cooler because it's soldered. The die is soldered to the ihs. The 8th gen i5 is not soldered. It has TIM between the die and the IHS. They both have their own advantages and disadvantages. The real difference is maybe an extra 100MHz on your overclock. That's not going to impact performance much at all. The i5 9600K has higher clocks out of the box than the 8600K. I'd only really consider the 9600K if I wasn't going to overclock or if both were the same price anyway. You said the 9600K isn't out yet where you live. It's perfectly fine to just get an 8600K then.

You will lose potentially 2 cores and maybe some extra clock speed. The i7 8700K is about equal to the 9700K when both are clocked to the same speed. There is no significant improvement in performance unless you go with the i9 9900K.

To tell you the truth, i m not much into overclocking.
Currently, i have been using the 4690k without overclock for 3 years.
I just want to overclock it moderately. Not extreme.
Besides, the retailers told me to wait until December 2018,so that prices become lowered & the 9th gen be available
