8x PCI-e slot for PCIi-e 8800GTS???

my motherboard says the pci-e graphics slot is a 8x. NOT a typical 16x slot.

My question is how much of a bottle neck is this really?

Will it hold back a 8800GTS or its full potentioal? or the 8800GTS doesnt even use the full capasatiy of the 16x slot?

ah heck all of a bottleneck.
back in the days of geforce 3 & 4 & r9xxx series 2x and 4x agp was a significant bottle neck.
agp 8x wasnt.

the move to pci-e with more bandwidth and higher speed made things much better, the processing power of graphics cards since then has improved alot, but the actual quantity of data flowing to the card from the cpu hasnt increased at the rate that the slot bandwidth has.
I highly doubt a 800gts would max out a 8x slot... possibly a 4x slot.
