and just think, this wasnt even amd's 'mature revision' thats going to be the revision E 90nm that adds sse3 among other things.

i think its pretty clear now that amd succeeded with 90nm, plain and simple. its apperent they waited it out till they had a stable process.

Yeah it sounds like a decent idea. Not a great one, and certainly no need for it, but if you want to spend an extra 200 or more bux, you can go that route vs 754 slot.

The lower heat and wattage however make it very nice. But, people often get varying results of heat depending on how the applied the goo and what goo they used for the heatsink, I just shaved off 6 centigrade of a slightly and unknowingly misplaced big copper sink on a 1.2 tualatin. thing runs less than human body temperature now.

i think the real claim was 3 degrees cooler, which, for a silent enthusiast does rock.

I hope the sse3 whatever doesnt make it more prescott like in its heat output (it could increase heat output).

I might go 939 in the spring if all is stable and AGP continues to be the best system (otherwise I will wait for pci express to actually do something)

extra $200? where do you get that number?

i think anyone that is now choosing between the s754 and the s939 would be hard pressed to not pick the s939 chips. i mean cpu prices are basically the same, and there are enough motherbaords of varying price to give anyone a choice.
