9100 Firewire port?

Looking at the 9100 and I see a firewire port is a $40 option but
there are no details.

Where do they put this port?

Is it a card or merely an extender cable from the motherboard?

I am wondering if I can add this for less from my local computer
store.

Thanks

1394 isn't standard, it's an option with the sound card.

Looks like you'll have to buy the SB Audigy 2 card to have that capability.
My impression is that by choosing that card, you'll have a port on the front
of the system, and one in back on the card itself.

It's a card or you can opt for the Audigy Sound Card.

The Audigy 2 has a firewire port on the card only...there is no connector on
the front panel. If you opt for the Dell installed firewire, the port is on
the front panel beside the two USB 2 and headphone/mic jacks.

Tmax60 (A Dimension 9100 owner with Audigy2 card ;-)

Hmmm, so we're letting it "Stew" in our thoughts?

Let's hope not. I've dropped the ball twice now regarding 1394 ports and
that system. Don't have one, haven't seen a lot of them so I'd probably be
best just avoiding responding on the subject altogether.
