Have at it.

My Verdict: Intel looks like they stopped caring about gaming.

Would have liked to have seen Scotty vs. Scotty though (since 925X w/ Scotty is roughly equal to 875P with Northwood, and 875P with Scotty is slow).

i would say its what some expecting, not much gain performance, mor elike laying out a feature set and worrying about performance later. anandtech did a nice job answer some burning questions, especially about ddr2. i am suprised it was able to stay on par with ddr 400, but i guess thats not so hard to believe. the point is ddr2 is not some magic pill yet, it may be next year, but not for now.

overall, intel gets the nod for features, but its performance might blow the air out of some people's sails. as far as the socket change, looks like the amd change to s939 produced a better boost then intel's s755, but id say overall its an equal release.

Hehe, Intel isn't learning are they. They tried to hamper the performance of the i820 chipset in order to distiguish the i840, people bought (ugh) VIA instead. They tried again with the less hampered i815, some people bought it but many found the old BX was actually much faster. They can't protect their high end chipset from performance encroachment of their midrange chipset without alienating buyers.

Heh, yeah....other than to give Intel more money, there is little reason to buy the 925X rather than the 915.

My official response to the 925X: "Meh." This [-peep-] better overclock well or else my next computer will be AMD (and I own stock in Intel).

I am not impressed. Sure the performance is in line, but you have to shell out a lot to get it. Pci-express is a no show, as is DDR2. The new chipsets dont do much for performance. The fact that the intel chips didnt cream Amd with the difference in storage, speaks volumns. No doubt Abit will make these chipsets work better.

Hate to say this, but I've been telling you this all along.. Performance boost just ain't there. Looks like a 820+RDRAM fiasco all over again: its newer and more expensive, but not faster. I am not surprised at all though.

.. I wonder if all the people postponing their upgrade for this chipset/socket will now actually buy one, or get a 875 (or A64) instead :)

BTW, LOL, did you guys notice the HUGE MF heatsink on the chipset ? It seems bigger than my Swiftech monster HSF !

I never expectd this chip-set to introduce a preformance boost. Intel is marketing it based on the new features it presents.

overall its a good platform, it would have been better with Wi-Fi, but still overall with PCI express and higher quilty sound it slightly favors nVidias new nforce.

I defiantly think Intel has lost the plot. People want performance over features. Intel are just being stupid at the moment well they have been now for the last year or so. AMD are becoming more popular and making chips faster than Intel. And all Intel does is add “features”. Intel need aim to take the gaming market away from AMD. So that Intel will gain back all there lost market to AMD. Lets face it if Intel carry on the way they are going AMD is likely to become more powerful than Intel and become a house hold name.

did i just miss it or did they not talk about the real world quality of the intigrated audio?

I would be interested to see how good it is.

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a processor

Yeah, me too...

If sound quality and drivers are good enough, I would also want to know how much of an impact it is on performance; it's no good if it loses 10fps from the performance of an add-in card.
