Question 940m GPU flickering and lag

My gt 940m has recently given me some problems. When even i try to enable the gpu windows would start to lag and flicker if i would open the Nvidia Control Panel and select “change settings with picture preview” or however it’s called. The “live picture “ won’t load as the whole program would stop responding, but after disabling the gpu the settings and the picture would load just before the program closes. Does anyone have an idea to what could be causing this?

Your 940M sounds like it could be defective.

Have you tried a clean install of the NVidia driver? What make & model laptop do you have?

Yep tried everything from clean install, different driver and even clean install of windows.
It’s an Acer Aspire E5 - 772G.
If I enable the GPU the screen sometimes switches to black, like it’s constantly switching, between integrated gpu and the nvidia gpu.

That's more or less evidence that the chip is failing. You might be able to save it with a reflow, depends on the source of the failure.
